Integrated Dermatology has been utilizing IPL Photo Rejuvenation for more than six years and our patients continue to show lasting results. Our physicians introduce collagen back into the skin to achieve a brighter and clearer complexion with IPL.
What is IPL?
Intense Pulsed Light is a facial rejuvenation ideal for treating rosacea, broken capillaries and discoloration. The redness and flushing of rosacea can be reduced 80-90%. It can be used to treat the full face, neck, chest and even hands.
How Does IPL work?
The treatment uses bursts of high intensity light to target the lower layers of skin and remove underlying causes of redness and discoloration. It is an outpatient procedure that may require multiple sessions for maximum results.
Using the advanced IPL system, your provider gently delivers precise amounts of light energy through your skin’s surface. Treatments are spaced at three week intervals. The energy is delivered at specific setting for each treatment to maximize your results.
The light energy stimulates the production of collagen. As the new collagen forms, it softens the appearance of aging skin. Fine line and wrinkles are decreased. The redness associated with rosacea can be dramatically reduced.
Who are the best candidates for IPL?
- Red, flushed faces
- Sun-damaged skin
- Enlarged pores
Why should I choose Integrated Dermatology for my IPL treatment?
At Integrated Dermatology, our physicians perform the IPL treatment. Our cost not only includes the price of the product, but more importantly, the skill and expertise of the physician who is administering your treatment. A single, full face session starts out at $600 and we provide discounts for patients that have subsequent treatments.
IPL is a technique-sensitive treatment — You need someone who is trained and has experience treating patients with intense pulsed light. It is more important to find an experienced doctor who will take the time to understand your treatment goals and develop a treatment plan that is right for you.
What Does It Feel Like?
Most patients describe the sensation to be like the snap of a rubber band on the skin as the pulses of energy are delivered through the hand piece. Some patients opt to have a topical anesthesia. After treatment, the pain is minimal to nonexistent.
How Long Does the Procedure Take?
Depending on the area treated, there will be a series of five to eight treatment. Treatments usually take from 15-30 minutes and are administered in the office.
What is the Downtime?
Post-operative discomfort is almost nonexistent. After treatment with most light systems, the treated skin may appear a little flushed and capillaries may seem to be more visible. The flushed look soon fades away, and the capillaries appear to vanish, leaving the skin looking younger.
Following any treatment, you should follow your doctor’s instructions, avoid any harsh skin cleansers and use sunscreen.
When will I See Results?
After only one treatment, your skin will have a more even tone with a smoother look and feel. Sun spots will fade. Pore sizes will shrink. Fine lines and wrinkles will gradually decrease in size. These improvements will steadily increase with each treatment. Patients with rosacea will see a progressive decrease in redness with every treatment.
